Beautiful Bates

“Short term continues to be beyond excellent. Everyone has been enjoying the wonderful weather and been frolicking in the great outdoors. In the past couple days I have read from a book titled Africanisms in American Culture, watched an outdoor concert by two of Bates’ a cappela groups (the Crosstones + the Manic Optimists), played intramureal flag football, gone to Ben & Jerry’s Free Cone Day in Freeport, and celebrated my friend Alex’s birthday by going out for dinner with a group of 13 other Batesies.” Read more about Paul’s first Short Term at Bates HERE
Also Check out his PICTURES page cause he just uploaded some nice shots of Spring.

“My week at Bates was definitely a good one. I made frequent visits to Range Pond, attended some great BBQs, chilled with friends on Frye St. porches until the early morning, and had a great final Crosstones concert. While saying goodbye friends was tough, I can’t pretend like it’s not nice to be home. Seeing loved ones and friends I haven’t seen for months is really great, and being at home during short term is going to give me a head start on the summer job market.” Read more about Naima’s summer in Chicago HERE

“On Saturday night, we played an intense couple rounds of Candy Land and Trouble before the Strange Bedfellows reunion/alumni show. I haven’t been to a Bedfellows show since freshman or sophomore year, to be honest. It just hasn’t been a priority for me– and they usually perform at the Ronj, which is a wee bit far away for me, seeing as how I tend to live on the opposite side of campus (yeah, I know it’s not that far away, but I get lazy in the evenings)” Read more about Emily’s Saturday night HERE

Short Term Morale

“I forgot how nice Short Term is. Honestly. Once the snow melts, the sun is out, and finals are over, everyone really seems footloose and fancy-free. I mean, turtlenecks and scarves aren’t preventing people from saying hi, nor obstructing their usual friendly smile. Plus, Dairy Joy being open is a MAJOR plus.” To read what Else Emily likes about Short Term Check out her blog HERE

Relaxing Term

“While I’m not taking a class for short term this year, I’ve been on campus this week preparing for an a capella concert, packing up all of my stuff, and enjoying the fruits of short term. Because everyone is only taking one class this semester - and most classes don’t meet every day, my friends are still available to hang out a lot. Yesterday, I spent hours at Range Pond.” Read all about Naima’s time up here in Maine Here…there are also some pictures of the Pond and the amphitheater Here

First Day of Short Term
April 24, 2008 · Comments Off
“I had my first day of short term yesterday and it was awesome. My class only met from 1-3 yesterday so I started off the day by sleeping in. It was so nice to wake up on my own on a school day without the use of an alarm clock. I woke feeling very refreshed and excited for the day. After grabbing a bite to eat at commons I headed over to class with a friend. The first class period was mainly an introduction to the course. We went over material we will be learning in the upcoming weeks, expectations for the class, and due dates for assignments.” Read all about Paul’s first day of Short Term Here
